Earlier this past June, reports swirled around the web confirming Nicki Minaj’s death, fortunately it turned out to be a hoax. Barely today, news started surfacing about Amy Winehouse being found dead in her residence, unfortunately, as much as we wished the opposite, its no hoax, but absolute truth.

Winehouse, one of the top soul vocalists in the game, was found dead in her home in Camden, London yesterday (July 23rd) at 3:54 pm. Her death: to be determined; unexplained.

An autopsy has been scheduled for July 24rth (today), which should reveal what took away the life of this songbird. The causes are pretty obvious to the public, since she had been struggling with troubled relationships, drugs and alcohol abuse over the past years.

In 2010, it was widely reported Winehouse had been working on the follow-up to the mega-successful sophomore effort Back To Black, and was plotting a comeback to the stage. She performed in South America earlier in the year, to atrocious reception, which consequently resulted in pulling the plug on the ensuing tour. This once more indicated Winehouse was not stable, and certainly not ready to return in proper form. The status of her third album is currently to be determined, as of July of last year, the record had not entered the process of recording, so as of now, any post-mortem release for the fans is pretty unlikely.

The world has lost major talent, despite her inner demons and self-destructive behavior. Her voice was as soulful as it could get, and inspired other artists to tackle her approach (i.e. Duffy, Adele). In a way, we all had it coming; hopefully she found the peace she relentlessly seeked.

‘They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said no, no, no’ – Amy Winehouse (September 14, 1983 – July 23rd, 2011); wish you would’ve said ‘yes’.

This is so unreal. God bless her.
